CODM MYSG Invitational 2021: SEM9 Placed Second
After a long hiatus since their last appearance in the CODM World Championship 2021 — Garena Finals. SEM9 was invited to the CODM : MYSG Invitational 2021. Other teams that were also invited include Yoodo RSG, Gaijin Rogue, and ALMGHTY.
The one day Invitational follows the “Playoffs’’ structure. Where teams that lose in the Semifinals get relegated to the lower bracket. SEM9 got off to a shaky start in the competition, falling to Gaijin Rogue by a small margin of 2–3. Dropping them into the lower brackets.
In the lower bracket, SEM9 had to play its domestic rival, Yoodo RSG. But, SEM9 cruised to the Lower Bracket Final with a 3–1 victory over Yoodo RSG. SEM9 had to once again face Gaijin Rogue, but this time in the Lower Bracket Finals. Despite trailing by a score of 2–3, SEM9 were able to overcome Gaijin Rogue and move onto the Grand Finals.
SEM9 went up against ALMGHTY, an undefeated team in this Invitational, in the Grand Finals. Unfortunately, SEM9 was beaten 3–1 by the Singaporean giants, and placed 2nd, winning a total of $750 USD. Although the team was unable to take the trophy home for this tournament, it served as a great prep run for future competitions in 2022.
